How to play

Move with the arrow keys, WASD, the numpad (8 4 5 6; 7 ability, 9 potion, . pack, 0 wait) or the d-pad. On a phone you can pick big arrows, or tap the map instead (top, bottom, left or right part to move, middle to wait), under Controls in the Challenges menu. With the arrow keys, Delete uses your ability, End waits, Page Down drinks a potion and right Ctrl opens the pack. Walk into a monster to attack it.
Q uses your class ability. P drinks a healing potion. I opens your pack. Space waits a turn.
In the pack, press 1–9 to use or equip an item, and Shift + number to drop it.
Find the > on each floor to go deeper. Gear: ) weapon, [ armor, ! potion, ? scroll, $ gold.
A merchant & sets up shop on some floors. Walk into them to buy gear, potions and upgrades, or sell spare gear.
Watch your step. Hidden traps ^ spike, poison, burn or set off alarms. Rogues spot them far more often.
Cracked walls ▒ hide secret rooms. Walk into one to break it. Chests = hold loot, though some bite back.
Poison and burning hurt every turn, and frost slows you. Potions cure poison and burns. Water puts out flames.
Partway down, a Stone Golem guards the stairs (floors 5, 15, 25… in Endless). When it raises its fists, step out of the glowing ring. In Standard and Endless, beating it lets you choose one of 3 upgrades that last the whole run.
In Endless, every 10th floor is a boss floor: a short dungeon, then an arena where a boss holds the stairs: a Cyclops, a Drake, a Lich, a Brood Mother or a Shadow, shuffled so you meet each before any repeats. Every 50th floor, the Amber Wyrm itself returns. Watch for the glowing tiles and get clear. Beating a boss gives better loot and 2 upgrade picks (the Wyrm: 3, and a relic). Past floor 12, monsters get tougher and hit harder every floor.
Relics are rare finds that join your collection forever. Pick one on this screen to start a run with it.
Challenges unlock new classes, screen colors and a Nightmare difficulty. Press C on this screen to see them and to change the text style or screen color, and G any time for the guide.
The Daily Run gives everyone the same dungeon, class and settings for the day. You get one try. Copy your result to compare with friends.
On the last floor the Amber Wyrm breathes fire in a line. When the floor glows ≈, step out of it.
Your run saves after every turn, but only in this browser. Use Backup on this screen to keep a copy of your progress or move it to another device. Esc returns to the menu. B toggles music and M mutes all sound.
